چکیده

A model is developed for the flow of a slightly compressible fluid through a saturated inelastic porous medium. The initial-boundary-value problem is a system that consists of the diffusion equation for the fluid coupled to the momentum equation for the porous solid together with a constitutive law which includes a possibly hysteretic relation of elasto-visco-plastic type. The variational form of this problem in Hilbert space is a nonlinear evolution equation for which the existence and uniqueness of a global strong solution is proved by means of monotonicity methods. Various degenerate situations are permitted, such as incompressible fluid, negligible porosity, or a quasistatic momentum equation. The essential sufficient conditions for the well-posedness of the system consist of an ellipticity condition on the term for diffusion of fluid and either a viscous or a hardening assumption in the constitutive relation for the porous solid.

Diffusion in Deforming Porous Media

We report on some recent progress in the mathematical theory of nonlinear fluid transport and poro-mechanics, specifically, the design, analysis and application of mathematical models for the flow of fluids driven by the coupled pressure and stress distributions within a deforming heterogeneous porous structure. The goal of this work is to develop a set of mathematical models of coupled flow an...

3-D Poro-Elastoplastic Model for Short-Crested Wave-Induced Pore Pressures in a Porous Seabed

In this paper, a three-dimensional poro-elastoplastic model for the short-crested wave-induced pore pressures in a porous seabed is presented. Unlike the previous models, both elasticity and plasticity of seafloor are considered in the present model. This study considers the effects of wave and soil characteristics on the pore pressures and was validated with the previous wave experiment data. ...

Two parabolic equations for propagation in layered poro-elastic media.

Parabolic equation methods for fluid and elastic media are extended to layered poro-elastic media, including some shallow-water sediments. A previous parabolic equation solution for one model of range-independent poro-elastic media [Collins et al., J. Acoust. Soc. Am. 98, 1645-1656 (1995)] does not produce accurate solutions for environments with multiple poro-elastic layers. First, a dependent...

A semi-implicit discrete-continuum coupling method for porous media based on the effective stress principle at finite strain

A finite strain multiscale hydro-mechanical model is established via an extended Hill–Mandel condition for two-phase porous media. By assuming that the effective stress principle holds at unit cell scale, we established a micro-to-macro transition that links the micromechanical responses at grain scale to the macroscopic effective stress responses, while modeling the fluid phase only at the mac...
